NextGen 101 Seminar - In Conjunction with Avionics For NextGen 2015 Conference

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University will be hosting our NextGen 101 event in conjunction with Avionics for NextGen Conference. This one-day course, held October 13th - the day before Avionics for NextGen 2015, will identify the key concepts, attributes, and challenges of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen).

This course can give you a working knowledge of NextGen, strengthen the understanding you may already have, or prepare you for the Avionics for NextGen 2015 Conference, which will bring an in-depth look into the technical aspects and valuable perspectives on how NextGen standards will be achieved.

NextGen is a series of Federal Aviation Administration programs that are being developed and implemented with the goal of modernizing the National Airspace System (NAS). Air traffic control systems are being overhauled from ground-based radar technology and point-to-point information sharing to a satellite-based system that uses a collaborative, real-time, and more accurate information-sharing system, System Wide Information Management (SWIM).

The testing, implementation, and demonstrations needed to accomplish this multi-decade program are being done at three NextGen test beds around the country, including one in Daytona Beach, FL. The FAA has contracted Embry-Riddle to run the Florida NextGen Test Bed, where ERAU staff and faculty, along with industry partners, work together to advance this FAA initiative.
