Crew Resource Management (CRM) -- previously referred to as Cockpit Resource Management -- is now very much a part of most industries around the world that involve individuals working as a team. This course provides details on the principles of CRM in the aviation industry, but is also suitable to other industries as the principles can be applied in all areas where effective teamwork and respect of each team member’s skills and backgrounds are to be coordinated.
Within the aviation industry, there is widespread acceptance and implementation of CRM training in developing crew coordination and effective teamwork within the flightcrew as a whole. As acceptance of the principles of CRM gained support, this training evolved from just the cockpit to include all ‘crew’ in coordination of each member’s knowledge and skills in a combined effort for the safety of each flight. Today, almost all major airlines and professional aviation operators will require aviation professionals to have knowledge and skills in Crew Resource Management, or working effectively in a team environment. CRM is critical to the success and safety of any team.
This course is suitable for members of a flightcrew team including Fixed Wing and Helicopter Pilots, non-pilot flightcrew members including Aircrew Officers, Loadmasters, Flight Paramedics and Rescue Swimmers as a guide and any other supplementary flightcrew members such as Helitack crews. The knowledge gained through participation in this course will enable participants to better understand and apply the principles of CRM in their workplace and contribute to the flight team effectively.
